Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage

According to writings on massage it has its origins in the ancient civilisations of the Romans and Greeks.  Indeed, the Greek doctor Hippocrates (460-377 BC) mentioned the importance of the massage techniques.

The five basic strokes used in Swedish massage are: sliding, kneading, friction, rhythmic tapping and vibration.

Its main effects are in the muscles and the connective tissue. Specific tensions and knots in muscle groups can be reduced. Through the stimulation of the blood and lymphatic circulation, the metabolic rate can be increased and that can aid the natural cleansing mechanism of the body. Massage reduces stress, leads to mental relaxation and, therefore, to an increase in overall wellbeing.

Health insurance: Some of the Swiss health insurances will reimburse the treatment, if you have insurance cover for alternative medicine. It is best to enquire at your insurance company.
